CONNECTIVITY

EVERYWHERE

WE'RE ORCHESTRATING NETWORKS AT PLANETARY SCALE

Aalyria is creating, organizing and managing the world’s most advanced networks to enable connectivity everywhere at the speed of discovery. Aalyria brings together two technologies originally developed at Alphabet as part of its wireless connectivity efforts: atmospheric laser communications technology and a software platform for orchestrating networks across land, sea, air, space and beyond. It is backed by leading Silicon Valley investors including the founders of Accel, J2 Ventures and Housatonic.

Our Story

1998

Start of the coherent light free space optics (FSO) program, now Tightbeam

2003

Our FSO program achieved a world record by successfully closing the first non-coherent 100Gb/s optical link

2014

Start of a software platform for Temporospatial Software Defined Networking (TS-SDN), now Spacetime

2016

Our TS-SDN software has successful first test with an airborne communications payload

2019

Our TS-SDN software is successfully deployed at scale and performs lights-out orchestration of the ground stations and communications payloads in Loon’s stratospheric mesh network

2019

Our FSO program closed first air to ground coherent 100Gb/s optical link

March 2022

Aalyria is formed; acquires coherent-light atmospheric FSO (Tightbeam) and TS-SDN (Spacetime) technology from Google

July 2022

Spacetime on contract as the common control-plane for the US Government’s Hybrid Space Architecture initiative

NETWORK ORCHESTRATION SOFTWARE PLATFORM
Spacetime is a software platform for orchestrating networks of ground stations, aircraft, satellites, ships, and urban meshes. It optimizes and continually evolves the antenna link scheduling, network traffic routing, and spectrum resources — responding in realtime to changing network requirements. Spacetime operates networks across land, sea, air, and space, at any altitude or orbit type, supports all radio frequency bands and optical wavelengths, and it is designed for interoperability with legacy, hybrid space, 5G NTN and FutureG network architectures.

ATMOSPHERIC LASER COMMUNICATIONS
Tightbeam is the world's most advanced coherent light free space optics technology. At rates faster than any other solutions available today and covering greater distances than previously imagined, it moves data intact through the atmosphere and weather, and offers connectivity where no supporting infrastructure exists. Tightbeam radically improves satellite communications, Wi-Fi on planes and ships, and cellular connectivity everywhere.

Aalyria just emerged from stealth mode, announcing an acquisition of a trove of connectivity technology from Google. The search juggernaut's parent company Alphabet has been developing high-altitude networking technology and apparently a space laser for years, if not decades.
